Claydon Evolution M3F – The Next Generation of Direct Drilling for Greater Efficiency and Sustainable Farming

An increasing number of farmers are seeking technologies that reduce production costs, preserve soil fertility, and ensure reliable crop establishment. Direct drilling is no longer simply an alternative—it has become a proven approach to more efficient and sustainable farming.

Built on more than two decades of expertise in minimum tillage technology, the Claydon Evolution M3F offers a modern solution for the direct drilling of autumn-sown crops. The machine combines Claydon’s patented technology with new features that increase productivity, simplify operation, and reduce overall operating costs.

Patented Technology for Maximum Soil Protection

At the heart of the Evolution M3F is Claydon’s proven Leading Tine Technology. Instead of cultivating the entire field, the leading tine loosens only the narrow strip where the seed will be placed.

This method preserves the soil’s natural structure, conserves moisture, and creates ideal conditions for healthy root development. The machine’s wheels travel on uncultivated ground, ensuring a consistent sowing depth and uniform crop emergence, even across uneven terrain.

Simultaneous Seed and Fertiliser Placement

One of the Evolution M3F’s key advantages is its ability to apply seed and mineral fertiliser simultaneously.

The drill is equipped with a 2,500-litre hopper, which can be divided in a 50:50 ratio for seed and fertiliser. Depending on agronomic requirements, the fertiliser can be placed either above or below the seed, promoting faster early crop development and improving nutrient uptake during the critical establishment phase.

Lower Costs with Every Pass

The Evolution M3F is engineered to eliminate the need for multiple pre-drilling cultivation passes.

This delivers significant benefits, including:

  • Significantly lower fuel consumption;
  • Reduced labour hours;
  • Less machinery wear and tear;
  • Lower maintenance costs;
  • Faster completion of the drilling season.

According to the manufacturer, crop establishment costs can be approximately one-third of those associated with conventional plough-based cultivation and around 50% lower than standard minimum tillage systems.

High Productivity Throughout the Season

With a 3-metre working width and a recommended minimum tractor power of 150 hp, the Evolution M3F is an excellent choice for medium and large-scale farming operations.

Built for Long Service Life

The Evolution M3F is equipped with leading tines featuring tungsten carbide tips, offering exceptional resistance to wear.

Its simple design, minimal number of moving parts, and easy access to the metering system reduce servicing time while ensuring outstanding reliability throughout the machine’s working life.

Part of the Proven Claydon Opti-Till® System

The Evolution M3F achieves its best performance as part of the Claydon Opti-Till® System.

Following harvest, the Claydon Straw Harrow evenly distributes crop residues and encourages the germination of volunteer crops and weeds. The Claydon TerraStar performs shallow surface cultivation to prepare ideal conditions for the next operation, while the Evolution M3F completes the process with precise direct drilling and minimal soil disturbance.

Together, these machines reduce cultivation passes, improve moisture conservation, minimise soil erosion, and lower overall production costs.
