The new configuration combines smooth speed control, automated operation and high hydraulic performance
Massey Ferguson, a worldwide brand of AGCO (NYSE: AGCO), is expanding its MF 5S tractor range with a new Dyna-VT continuously variable transmission (CVT) option.
The new MF 5S Dyna-VT models complement the existing versions equipped with Dyna-4 and Dyna-6 transmissions. The new configuration has been developed in response to growing demand from farmers for greater versatility, comfort and ease of operation.
“Our multi-award-winning MF 5S Series has built a strong reputation as one of the best tractor ranges for front loader work. At the same time, its capabilities, versatility and high level of specification mean that these tractors are increasingly being used for grassland and field work,” explains Jérôme Aubrion, Massey Ferguson Marketing Director for Europe and the Middle East.
According to him, the new Dyna-VT transmission further expands the capabilities of the range, while increased comfort, efficiency and ease of operation will benefit both customers and the brand’s dealers.

Three Transmission Options
All five models in the MF 5S range, with power outputs from 105 to 145 hp, can now be equipped with the Dyna-VT transmission in Efficient and Exclusive specifications.
At the entry-level Essential specification, customers can choose between Dyna-4 and Dyna-6 transmissions.
In addition to the new continuously variable transmission, the Dyna-VT versions feature new front and rear axles, a new hydraulic system, as well as updated rear linkage and drawbar.
Dyna-VT – Efficiency and Ease of Operation
The Dyna-VT transmission features a single range and enables smooth speed adjustment from 0.1 to 40 km/h.
Speed can be controlled using the accelerator pedal, hand throttle or Power Control lever. The maximum speed of 40 km/h can be achieved at low and economical engine speeds of just 1550 rpm.
For greater convenience, the operator can store two virtual speed ranges, selected using a switch on the transmission control lever. Different starting speeds can be set for forward and reverse travel, along with two cruise control speeds for each mode.
Dyna-VT is equipped as standard with ParkLock. The system automatically applies the parking brake via the Power Control reversing lever and is particularly convenient for operations involving frequent stopping and starting.
In fully automatic mode, the operator selects the desired speed using the pedal. The tractor’s control system automatically determines the most efficient engine speed and transmission ratio according to the selected speed and operating conditions. The settings are continuously optimised as the load changes.
When operating PTO- or hydraulically driven implements, the required engine speeds can also be set and stored in the A and B memories, while the operator independently adjusts the forward speed.
Virtual Speed Ranges for More Precise Control
Virtual speed ranges provide even more precise control. Instead of having access to the entire speed range, the operator can define an individual range between minimum and maximum speeds according to the specific operation.
This improves control during activities such as front loader work or baling. The speed remains within the pre-set limits, while small adjustments can be made smoothly.
For tasks requiring frequent changes in direction, the engagement speed can be adjusted according to operating conditions.
A smoother engagement setting is ideal for precise loader work on hard surfaces, as it improves operator comfort, reduces tyre wear and minimises the risk of spillage.
A faster engagement setting enables more dynamic manoeuvring and shorter working cycles, while the intermediate setting is suitable for most field operations.
Dyna-VT offers benefits to both less experienced operators and professionals. Automatic modes ensure optimised coordination between the engine and transmission, while the more advanced settings allow experienced operators to prioritise either fuel economy or higher productivity.
Performance and Versatility
All MF 5S Dyna-VT models feature a 2550 mm wheelbase. This provides stability during front loader operations, good traction for field work and enhanced comfort during transport.
The maximum permissible gross vehicle weight is 9000 kg, while the maximum permissible gross train weight reaches 41,000 kg, although local restrictions may apply in some markets.
All five models are equipped as standard with a rear linkage offering a lifting capacity of 6000 kg.
The load-sensing hydraulic system, delivering 110 l/min, provides fast working cycles for front loader applications and sufficient flow for operating the most demanding implements.
With up to 41 litres of usable external hydraulic capacity, the new MF 5S Dyna-VT models can operate with large trailers and unload them efficiently.
As with the other MF 5S models, the Multipad joystick controls the first and second hydraulic valves. The third and fourth valves are mechanically controlled on Efficient models, while Exclusive versions feature electronic control via buttons.
A three-speed PTO is standard, offering 540, 540 Eco and 1000 rpm modes.
The 540 Eco mode helps reduce fuel consumption, noise levels and wear, allowing implements requiring lower power to operate at engine speeds of just 1560 rpm.
Smart Farming Technologies
To deliver greater efficiency and productivity, all MF 5S Dyna-VT tractors can be equipped with the full range of Massey Ferguson Smart Farming solutions.
These technologies support precise control of the tractor and its operations, helping to optimise resource use and increase productivity.
Low Operating Costs
The MF 5S Dyna-VT models retain the low operating costs associated with the Dyna-4 and Dyna-6 versions.
The engine oil change interval is 600 operating hours, while the transmission oil change interval is 2400 hours. The machines are also offered with a factory warranty.
The new MF 5S Dyna-VT was unveiled for the first time at Agritechnica, held from 9–15 November 2025, with the first deliveries to farms planned for June 2026.
